How to Plant a Perennial

Plant when cool and cloudy, a couple of days after a light rain.
Plant with room to double or triple in size.
Gently loosen root ball before planting. Cut off any dead, mushy roots.
Dig a wide and shallow hole, 2-3 times as wide as the pot from the nursery and equally as deep as the pot. The roots need room to spread wide.
Lightly water before planting. Water the surrounding soil after planting and fill it with more dirt if it settles.
Make sure the root ball is level with the top of the hole.
Test Soil PH, add compost, and pack soil around the plant to support it.
After planting, cover the soil with 2-3 inches of mulch to protect the soil and retain moisture.
