Calibrachoa hybrid 'Superbells Yellow Chiffon'

Common Name: Calibrachoa

Common Alternative: Million Bells

Calibrachoa hybrid 'Superbells Yellow Chiffon' displays abundant, small petunia-like flowers all season long. Cascading habit; low maintenance. The entire Superbells series of Calibrachoa is bred for heat tolerance. Best in containers including hanging baskets where it can display its fabulous trailing habit. Keeping plants too wet can lead to root rot diseases. Allow the top of the soil to dry before watering again. If your plant is wilting even though the soil is still damp you likely have a root rot problem. Self-cleaning, no deadheading necessary.

Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips

Calibrachoas are ph sensitive and need a well-draining soil. Typical garden soils are not acidic enough to keep Calibrachoas from having stunted, yellow growth. They perform best in a good quality potting soil such as our own Kaw Valley "Good Stuff". For beds with typical garden soils we recommend the similar looking "Littletunia" series of Petunias, which are not so ph sensitive.

Interesting Notes

If you have problems with budworms (blooms and buds getting chewed away) we recommend Captain Jack's Deadbug Brew. It's safe enough to be used for organic growing, and if used once a week starting mid-June it should take care of these dastardly pests that have invaded most of the Midwest. We carry this fantastic product at our Kaw Valley Garden Centers in ready-to-use spray bottles.
