Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood'

Common Name: Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' is an easy-to-grow, upright, purple-leafed Japanese maple. The burgundy-wine colored foliage turns a vibrant scarlet in the fall. Though 'Bloodgood' keeps good color in full sun, Japanese Maples usually provide the best color in partial shade. Protect from extreme winter conditions. Moderate moisture; will not tolerate drought. Pruning is best done in the fall. Fertilize in early spring with a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees and shrubs.
