Why KVG Plants Work Better
Three reasons: 1. Natural Soil, 2. Real Acclimation, 3. Locally Tested & Selected Varieties
We're just about the last grower on earth who still cares about garden performance. We do lots of things other growers just don't do anymore. We focus on bringing you a plant that transplants more successfully, looks better and last longer through the tough conditions we face in our area.
1) We use natural soil. No other grower we know of still uses real dirt. It's a key reason why KVG plants "just do better" than others. To make a long story short, roots rely on micro-organisms called michorizzae to take up nutrients. The particular type of these organisms changes depending on what the plant is growing in. If the plant is growing in real soil, the michorizzae that thrive in real soil are present. If the plant is in an artificial mix, the necessary type of nutrient uptakers are not present. Kaw Valley's plants have the nutrient uptakers--in spades. Our plants suffer less transplant shock and thrive much faster because of it.
2) Real acclimatization.
3) Locally selected varieties.
- Natural Soil: We still grow your plants in natural soil to improve transplant success. Plants grown in artificial soil will suffer more transplant shock when you put them in your garden. This is because the micro-organisms that prepare water and nutrients to enter the roots are different in natural soil than in artificial soil. (By the way, try to find another grower who uses natural soil - won't!)
Frost Proof: Early varieties are frost-hardened by our unique growing process. Your plants will survive and thrive better in cold weather.
Heat, Drought and Wind Stressed: Before you buy them, we expose your plants to the harsh natural conditions they will find in your garden. Heat and Drought stress stimulates root growth and conditions them for better water uptake in dry weather. Wind stress actually increases stem diameters so they will stand stronger.
Locally Selected: Kaw Valley uses garden industry research, University studies, and our own extensive trial gardens to make sure the varieties we bring you will perform well in the challenging conditions this area poses. So many of the varieties promoted in articles and advertisements simply will not do well well here. They are often ideal for northern states that don't have our intense summer heat. Unfortunately, we see these unsuited, poorly chosen varieties in stores everyday, all over this region.
When you buy plants from Kaw Valley, they're "Local Selections." Bred and acclimatized for your garden!
